Wrestling the customers functional and aesthetic needs into a beautiful new solution is what GLW enjoy most. An usual request is the opportunity to create a great design.
Usually these requests are about maximising space or creating storage to hide away the ugly, necessary fixtures in London's front and back gardens. We have created box-top , scented herb gardens to both hide and mask the rubbish and recycling. We even created an under-decking sandpit once with a chalkboard painted on the back of the lid. We never mess about with safety and even more so when there are children involved so, to ensure safety, the guys used heavy duty gas-struts to ensure it couldn't be closed easily by or on, the little nippers playing beneath.
Recently when landscaping a beautiful property out in the coast in Essex we had a request for what I suppose is popular to call a man-cave, a hobby hut or just an old fashioned shed that could double up as anything else, this was for use as a bar on the sunny days when the BBQ is out. Painted up in an on-trend dark grey to match the fencing, the shutter can be secured from the inside and opens with ease. Perfect for pouring the Prosecco or shaking up a cocktail or three on a summers day.
They say form follows function in good design, but we like to think it's born somewhere in the conversation between needs and wants. If you have an idea for something, even if you have never seen it before, GLW would love the opportunity to work with you to bring your dream to life. By creating 3D sketches in collaboration with you, you can take a gamble, experiment with an idea and test the feasibility of a plan before you commit the big bucks to it. It takes away some of the fear people have when making big purchases and scheduling works. Check out some of our concept designs in the gallery or better still, invite the Ground Levellers round for a meet and measure up, we can usually have a sketch back to you within a week when it isn't high season.
